Absolutely. My favourite chair is on its third repair. There’s a story in keeping it going.

Should you join a freelancing company?

Joining a freelancing company is quite essentual for many people who are not able to find work online. There are various freelancing companies that hire freelancers and provide them with work. So, should you join a freelancing company?

I have considered joining a freelance company a few times in the past, but the issue with some of them is that they charge you to even list your services on their sites. This may be great for those who are making enough to afford it.

I have in the past used sites such as SEOClerk and Fiverr, but I have found that, for freelance services such as forum posting and blog commenting, they are not as popular for sales on those sites as they used to be.

I have seen many people offering blog commenting and forum posting services on Fiverr, Upwork, Freelancer, etc. It is all about marketing your services to the right clients at the right time. Forum posters on Fiverr and Upwork are earning a good sum of money. There are billions of websites on the internet and promoting your services to the website owners could get you many customers.

I think joining a freelancing company can actually be a good move, at least in the beginning. Sure, the terms on some of these platforms aren’t great, but a lot of people forget that when you’re just starting out, your skills, workflow, and overall management aren’t great either. These companies give you a structured way to get your feet wet and see how the freelance world operates without having to build everything from scratch.

Once you’ve built up your skills, confidence, connections, and a bit of a client base, that’s when it makes sense to break away and go more independent. At that point, you’re bringing more value to the table, and you don’t need to rely on a platform’s ecosystem as much.

To me, it’s not that different from a tradesperson starting out in a shop or union. You learn the ropes, develop your abilities, and then decide whether you want to stay or go fully independent once you’re ready.

Of course, it’s not a one‑size‑fits‑all situation. Some people never leave the platforms because it works for them, and others skip them entirely and jump straight into independent freelancing. Sometimes the best approach is simply to try it and see what fits your style and goals.

There are a few freelancing companies in my city and they tend to offer a fixed salary. However, as an independent freelancer, you tend to gain clients on your own. This means that your earning potential at freelancing companies is not that high. However, gaining more and more clients as an independent freelancer might be really hard.
