Absolutely. My favourite chair is on its third repair. There’s a story in keeping it going.

How do you treat depression?

Depression is really hard to treat. I think that it is not possible to treat depression until or unless you treat the underlying cause of depression. I do not think that taking pills alone would help. So, how do you treat depression?

With the outdoors.

I unplug and get away from the technology that has made us so anti-social and anti-outdoors.

I go hike, bike, kayak, cave, or camp every weekend and have done so for the past 10 years. I don't get depressed anymore.

I'm biking 100 miles tomorrow (in one day).

I do not think that it is possible to treat depression until or unless the root cause of depression is addressed. Many people suffer from depression due to financial problems and this should be addressed. Some people have problems in relationships. These are some of the common causes of depression. I do not think that taking antidepressants alone could solve the problem. It just masks the problem. Having said that, hiking, caving, and engaging in such outdoor activities can also treat mild symptoms of depression.
