Absolutely. My favourite chair is on its third repair. There’s a story in keeping it going.

Should freelance writers be worried about AI?

Something I am noticing more often is how community managers are now using AI options in their forums for content. These AI options are often used to respond to threads and posts to make it look like it is a genuine member interacting with the community.

As a freelance writer myself, this does have me worried that in time, we may end up out of a job due to AI, especially since in most cases, these kinds of things can be programmed to act like normal members.

As a freelance writer, are you worried about AI?

If you're not, you really should be, because human-like, multiple personality, AI generated content has been a thing for years now. There are some content jobs that are unlikely to be dramatically impacted, but most have been in a pretty big way.

In my day job, I do a lot of technical writing. I've even had past, salaried, roles in which that was essentially my only main task. I'm skeptical AI is going to fully replace the human element in such a field soon. But generic content like one finds on social media, forums, etc.? Forget it, that ship has sailed.
