What lesson have you learnt as a freelancer?

The thing is that being a freelancer can be one of the life good experiences as long as you have the jobs coming around. Having that opportunity to earn from the skills that you've got is a happy feeling. However, such a journey can come with some of its challenges and a lesson to learn. Which one can you look back and say you've learnt about life as a freelancer so far?

One thing I have leared as a freelancer over the years is to not always trust every client you get, especially when they make promises to you regarding contracts.

I have been burned so many times through contracts, even to the point of where I have let work go to work for others exclusively and then been let down.

@Shortie nailed it. There, sadly, a lot of shady characters out there in the freelance world. Well, there are plenty in day jobs too, but that is another topic.

I can relate to that. Being a dedicated freelancer, I have always delivered my work on time only to see client vanishing away without paying ☹️. Many clients owe me money, but they have just disappeared. They refuse to answer your messages and just ignore you. It is always advisable to collect upfront payments to avoid this situation.

One thing I have learned as a freelancer is that if you actually want to make it as a freelancer then you must be consistent with anything you do and never undermine any circumstances.consistency and dedication is always the key

Many people are not consistent for many reasons. For example, many people create a Fiverr profile only to discover that they are not getting enough orders in the first place. They market their profile to no avail. This has been a major problem for many people. Platforms like Fiverr are very saturated.
