Do you hold back on posting as staff?
If you're on staff, do you sometimes hold back on posting what's exactly on your mind because you might not get a good reaction to your words?
I've held back for sure. There are times I want to let some people have it, but I don't. I just play nice.
I have on many occasions held off on saying what I want to say as staff, especially if I feel that it could cause issues or even conflict within the forum, if I were to say what I wanted to say.
Absolutely. I am on staff with a very large and active forum that can get pretty heated at times. I feel I have an obligation as a member of the mod team to not engage in such postings, but rather keep things calm and running smoothly. In that case I most certainly self-censor, if for no other reason I feel it is the ethical thing to do.
"Reason is sovereign over the passions." — 4 Maccabees 1:1
It is quite common for staff members to hold back because many issues would resolve themselves. However, staff members have to intervene when they think that they have to do so when things start to go out of hand.
A staff member has to intervene as they are there to resolve issues even if at times they do not go the way one would want to.
I hold back on posts that might seem unprofessional.
