Most disappointing thing about AI?

What is the most disappointing thing about AI?

I am not disappointed in AI. It is useful to me. It also depends on how it is manipulated.

What are some of the ways you use AI?

I would have to say that the most disappointing thing about AI for me would have to be how it is used to trick people.

I see a lot of places such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, and even YouTube Shorts where clips have been made using AI and they look so realistic, so much so that you can't always tell that they are AI, and despite the fact anything made by AI should be lablelled as so, it is not always labelled as so and no platform seems to enforce that rule.

AI has really improved over the past year and it's becoming more and more difficult to tell what's real and what's fake!! I agree there should be a label required!!

Good question. I suppose, beyond the obvious like an AI hallucinating and making things up, is the plethora of AI-generated "slop" one encounters now. Perhaps at first amusing, now it is just tedious.

That said, while every technology has a downside, the potential is nothing short of amazing. I presently work in the biomedical field in a technical capacity and there are some truly amazing advancements in healthcare being made by harnessing AI. :)

Well, AI can sometimes generate very misleading answers and this is what that disappoints me the most about AI. In many cases, I have corrected Aai in many occasions. This is very bad thing about AI.

Oh, I'm with you on that one!! There are so many things that AI gets right, but in the back of my mind, I still know it can make mistakes. I try to double check answers whenever I feel it's just strange.

I generally use two different types of AI apps to make sure that I am getting accurate information about everything. Despite that, I have noticed that AI can still make many mistakes. It is always a good thing to make sure you conduct your own research online as well apart from extracting answers from AI app.

The halluncinations is a great disappointment! You will ask a simple coding question or technical issue, it will generate a very clean looking code that is completely full of errors and fake functions. Then you will waste two hours on VS Code trying to debug those errors..

For me, the most disappointing part is how confidently AI models invent things that do not exist instead of simply admitting they don't know. When I'm writing Python or Rust code, an assistant will occasionally fabricate a library method that looks completely believable on the surface.
You still have to read the docs, run the test suite, and verify every assumption yourself. Close behind that is the wave of low-effort, repetitive slop flooding blogs and forums everywhere.
