Absolutely. My favourite chair is on its third repair. There’s a story in keeping it going.

When did you first become a webmaster?

I first became a webmaster back in 2001 and that was when I first started creating my own websites. I remember my very first website was built on Geocities, and it was a fan site for a band I was a huge fan of.

Since 2004, I have been creating forums, so I have now been a webmaster for around 22 years.

How long have you been a webmaster?

For me, I started around 2001. I started with geocities myself, then learned HTML/CSS and built a much better looking site, then set up a forum for it using Invision Power Board around 2002 after having earlier versions of said forum on things like ProBoards. So pretty much a similar story. :) So for me? Maybe 25 years? :)

I started been a webmaster for 17 years now but do you know what baffled me the most? I have never own a website I have monetize and earn from, but obviously I own one forum which has about 730000 active participant but I never monetize it.

I also have four blogs which is on trend but I never monetize it or even earn from it this year am taking the bull by the horn all my blogs and forum most generate revenue lol

Around 1997ish.

I was about 13. I started using WebTV, which later became MSNTV. It was all dial-up back then…

I created a website with WebTV about tips and secrets of using WebTV.

It was about 1999ish when I made my first forum. phpBB1

Oh man … I am going to date myself, but 1996. I was working for a small software company and they tasked me with making and maintaining the company site. Wow, how much has changed (on the Internet or elsewhere) since then.

I started tinkering with MyBB more than 10 years ago…

I launched my first blog around 2012. I guess it counts as when I became a webmaster. I added a phpbb forum to it and it was awesome. I had a good time playing around with the themes and basic coding.

GeoCities fan sites were such a great era of the internet because everyone was building pages out of pure passion rather than chasing algorithms! I got into building and managing websites much later, starting around 2022 when I began shipping full-stack Python and frontend projects professionally and launched my own portfolio and studio site.

Even though the tools have evolved from static HTML tables to React, Flask, and GitHub Pages, that excitement of deploying a live site never gets old.
